Achievements (Division of Crop Production)

Application of 300 kg Si/ha through sugarcane bagasse ash +500 kg sulphitation press mud cake + foliar spray of 2.5% potassium silicate at 0, 30 and 60 Days of ratoon initiation with brown manuring of Sesbania recommended for enhancing winter initiated sugarcane ratoon productivity.
CoPk 05191 (early) and CoLk 11206 (mid-late) varieties were found suitable for drought condition in sub-tropical India.
Ratoon initiation in month of February gave better performance than March, April and May initiated crop. Even though with the application of best agronomic management practices such as weed management through application of Atrazine 2000g/ha (Pre) fbAmetryn 1500 g/ha + 2, 4-D 725 g/ha (Post), efficient nutrient management using FYM (NPK through using STCR With IPNS) can improve the yield of even up to May initiated ratoon and productivity recorded more than national average.
Copyright certificate obtained for IkshuKedar mobile app for irrigation scheduling in sugarcane crop in sub-tropics –certified by ICAR vide certificate no. ICAR-NRM-IISR-2024-232 dated 16th July 2024.
Developed concept “Critical level of initial soil organic carbon content for sugarcane plant ratoon system” –certified by ICAR vide certificate no. ICAR-NRM-IISR-Concept-2024-230.
Sugarcane Based Integrated Farming System Model for Small Farm Holders in Sub-tropical India, Year of Release: 2024 on occasion of ICAR foundation day (16th July,2024)
NPK scheduling under drip fertigation developed for sustained sugarcane production up to 4thratoon crop.
Eco-friendly technology ‘Zero tillage with crop residue retention with brown manuring’ for enhancing productivity and profitability of rice-wheat-sugarcane based production system with improve and sustain soil health.
Developed three targeted yield equations for plant crop namely variety CoPk 05191, Co 0238 and CoLk 09204 which is used for precise balance recommendation of mineral and organic fertilizer across the alluvial soils of subtropical region.
Developed three targeted yield equations for ratoon crop namely variety CoPk 05191, Co 0238 and CoLk 09204. This equation used for recommendation of site-specific balance fertilizer application in ratoon crops across the alluvial soils of subtropical condition.
Development of Mobile app called "Fertilizer Calculator." The precise doses of urea, DAP, and MOP are readily calculated using this software based on the results of an initial soil test values and selected target yields. It is appropriate for site-specific nutrient management or balance in plants and ratoon crops. This app will be helpful for improving nutrient use efficiency and restoring N, P, and K deficiency in alluvial soils of the subtropical region.
Application of Mycorrhiza product @ 50 kg/ha along with microbial consortia and recommended dose of fertilizers (RDF) was found the best option and increased the B/C ratio (1.96 and 1.83, in plant and ratoon crops, respectively).
Integrated use of both products DKC @ 25 kg/ha and JK @ 2 L/ha (two foliar sprayings at 60 and 90 days after planting) along with 75% of RDF for sugarcane (plant) or ratoon crop increased the highest sugarcane and sugar yields in plant–ratoon system. Soil chemical and biological properties were also maintained at higher level with application of both bioproducts along with 75% of RDF. Thus, the integrated application of both bioproducts (DKC and JK) with 75% RDF could be recommended to improve the crop yield, sustain soil fertility and enhance the profitability of the sugarcane-based production system.
Intercropping coriander (leaf purpose), garlic, and maize (cobs purpose) with autumn sugarcane was most remunerative compared to other intercrops. Sugarcane + coriander intercropping recorded the highest B:C ratio (2.69); however, the mean B:C of intercrops was 1.91 versus 1.52 with sole cane planting over the four years, indicating the intercropping systems' profitability.
Foliar spray of 100 ppm ethrel along with 1% urea solution in seed cane one week before planting improved sugarcane yield (73.15 t ha−1) by 28.31% and sugar yield by 25.55% (8.55 t ha-1). Integrated application of microbial consortia containing Gluconacetobacterdiazotrophicus, Pseudomonas fluorescens and Trichodermaharzianum with 50% reduction of NPK has been found effective against recommended fertilizers (150 kg NPK ha−1, 25 kg NPK ha−1, 50 kg NPK ha−1) without microbial consortia.
AICRP Reporter: A web-based reporting system for the trials of AICRP on sugarcane was developed.
